mantel, circa 1760-1789. The original was discovered
buried in the basement of a Paris antique dealer. This
beautifully executed piece features classic "stop-
fl uted" jambs surmounted by square "paterae". The
frieze is decorated with an exquisitely carved center
piece bearing musical instruments.
