Hand-Carved Limestone

This very hard and durable sedimentary stone is extremely common in architecture. Many landmarks across the world, including the pyramids of Egypt and medieval churches and castles in Europe are made of limestone.

At François & Co. our French stonemasons carve exquisite period reproductions of Antique mantels using newly cut limestone or reclaimed stone from historical estates. Our newly cut limestone is available in a variety of colors and finishes, as shown here.

With the original masterpiece as model and using virtually the same method as the original artist one of our skilled artisans painstakingly hand-carves a magnificent reproduction. The result is a one-of-a-kind work of art that is the mirror image of its antique model.
